Stay healthy through winter virus season!

Colder weather is here! While it brings cozy blankets and hot cocoa, it also brings a few unwelcome guests (like the flu, RSV, and COVID). But don't worry, we’re here with healthy-hero tips to keep you and your loved ones in tip-top shape all season long. Check out the following tips:

Wash your hands

  • First things first—wash your hands! Use soap and water, scrub for at least 20 seconds (sing "Happy Birthday" 2 times), and make sure to clean between your fingers and under your nails.

Get vaccinated

Cover your coughs and sneezes

  • Be a cough superhero! Use your elbow or a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Throw used tissues away in the trash, and then wash your hands for an extra layer of protection.

Stay home when you’re sick

  • If you're feeling under the weather, embrace the responsibility and stay home. Rest, watch your favorite shows, and keep those germs from spreading to others. It's the right thing to do!

  • Test yourself for COVID-19. You can get free COVID-19 tests sent to your door! Order yours at www.covid.gov/tests

Get treatment medicines

  • Treatments are available for flu and COVID and can reduce your chances of getting very sick and needing to go to the hospital.

Use other common-sense steps

  • Other tools like physical distancing, improving air flow, and masking in places where you live or work can give you another layer of protection.

All of the above tips are especially important for anyone who has a higher chance of getting very sick, such as:

  • Children younger than 5

  • Adults 65 or older

  • Pregnant people

  • People with disabilities

  • People with health conditions (such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes, and kidney disease)
