Medical waste disposal

Medical Waste Disposal

Starting in July 2024, you are now able to come to Lincoln County Health Department to dispose of medical waste including:

  • Sharps/needles

  • Biohazard materials (items that are covered in body fluids like blood)

How does it work?

  1. Buy your authorized container from the Lincoln County Health Department (or somewhere else).

  2. Place used or unused sharps or biohazard materials into the container.

  3. When full, seal your container.

  4. Bring it to the Lincoln County Health Department and pay your fee for disposal (cost ranges from $6-$20 depending on the size of container).

  5. If you choose, purchase another container.

Please note: We will not accept sharps/biohazard materials that are not stored in an authorized container. For example, we cannot accept coffee cans or water bottles. We also cannot handle loose sharps/needles or biohazard materials that are not properly sealed.
