What to do if I test positive?
As a reminder, if you test positive for COVID-19 you should notify your close contacts as soon as possible. This helps to stop the chain of transmission in our community. Close contact refers to anyone who you were within 6 feet of for more than 15 minutes over a 24-hour period (2 days before symptoms started until your positive test).
If you test positive, you should isolate at home and away from others for 5 days from the start of your symptoms. If you are symptom free or symptoms are improving, you can leave isolation on day 6 but should strictly wear a mask for the next 5 days around others. 31% of individuals are still infectious after 5 days. You can learn more about isolation and quarantine here: COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation | CDC
What to do if I was exposed?
If you are up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines or have had COVID-19 in the last 90 days, you do not need to quarantine after being exposed. But, you should wear a mask around others for 10 days and take a COVID-19 test after 5 days.
If you are not up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines, you should quarantine at home and away from others for 5 days and take a test on day 5, if possible. If the test is negative (or no symptoms if not able to test) you can leave your home but continue to wear a mask around others for an additional 5 days.
