10/21/2021 Weekly COVID-19 Update
Currently, Lincoln County, Missouri is seeing downward trend in COVID-19 cases.
The 7-day PCR positivity rate is 7.9%, at this time last week it was 8.7%. Cases per 100,000 in Lincoln County are at 227, down from 281 last week. In order to be considered a community with low transmission, this number should be less than 10. Our number of active cases (individuals who are in isolation for COVID-19 infection) is at 157. Last week this number was at 182 and when we started the month of September, this number was at 342. Currently, about 40% of active cases are in the pediatric population (ages 0-18).
Parents, have you talked to your child's pediatrician about the COVID-19 vaccine? The FDA will soon be discussing vaccines for ages 5-11. Now is a great time to start the conversation and ask questions.
DHSS is still sponsoring a free testing site on Wednesdays in Winfield (County Market parking lot) throughout the month of October. Hours are 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 87 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Lincoln County. There have been 14 deaths added to our count since the beginning of September. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each family affected.
The rate of Lincoln County residents who have completed COVID-19 is 37%. This is lower than the state rate of completion at 48.9%.
The rate of completed vaccination in surrounding counties are as follows:
· St. Charles 53.4%
· Pike 34.1%
· Warren 38.9%
· St. Louis 53.4%
In addition, the percentage of Lincoln County 12-17 year olds who have completed vaccination is 21.2%. Again, this is lower than the state percentage of 36.4% of 12-17 year olds that have completed vaccination.
We encourage everyone regardless of vaccination status to take all protective measures. It is especially important to get vaccinated and wear a mask indoors when you are in large groups. COVID-19 vaccines are effective against severe disease and death.
