Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine to stay up-to-date.
People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised may get additional doses of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Children aged 6 months–4 years may need multiple doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date, including at least 1 dose of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine can vary from person to person. Some people have a little discomfort and can continue to go about their day. Others have side effects that affect their ability to do daily activities. Side effects normally go away in a few days and tend to be mild and temporary, like those you get after routine vaccinations. Even if you don’t have any side effects, your body is building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.
