9/9/21 Weekly COVID-19 Update

Weekly COVID-19 Update 9/9/2021

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) issued a hotspot advisory yesterday for Lincoln, Warren, and surrounding areas. According to this advisory, “hospitals in the region are seeing resource strain from dramatically increased numbers of COVID-19 patients and hospitalizations. As a result, several hospitals in the region are at or near capacity including those in the St. Louis Region where many individuals from this area seek care”. You can view the full advisory here by clicking here.

We are working with DHSS to add a weekly testing site in Lincoln County. This site will be in the parking lot at County Market in Winfield. It is a free, drive-through testing location. Results will be issued in 24-48 hours. This site begins operating next week on Wednesdays throughout September.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Task Force, there are 529 individuals hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 22 pediatric hospitalizations due to COVID-19. 4 of those pediatric hospitalizations are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

After reviewing our data, pediatric cases currently make up 30% of our cases. Previously, pediatric cases only made up 15% of our cases.

13 out of 18 zip codes in Lincoln County saw increases in cases during the past week. Lincoln County remains in the “high transmission” category according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There is a 7-day average of 53 cases being added per day.

Our 7-day positivity rate is 14.2%, at this time last week it was 15.1%. Cases per 100,000 in Lincoln County are at 393, up from 330 last week. In order to be considered a community with low transmission, this number should be less than 10. Our active cases (individuals who are in isolation for COVID-19 infection) has increased to 392. Last week this number was at 368 and when we started the month of August, this number was at 192.

The percent of the Lincoln County population that has completed vaccination is 30.4%. The state average is 45.9%.

LCHD has daytime COVID-19 vaccine clinics every week day. We also have evening vaccine clinic appointments available in September. Our evening clinics run until 7 p.m. The remaining dates are:

·       Monday September 13th, 2021 (clinic is full)

·       Wednesday September 22nd, 2021

The Lincoln County Health Department strongly encourages individuals to take precautions to prevent getting or spreading COVID-19. Please get vaccinated, wear a mask in public, improve air flow, and get tested if you are having symptoms. If you have questions about the vaccine, you can view more details on our website or the CDC website.
